I am trained to treat a broad range of issues. Some of the most common are:
-
Anxiety, depression, stress, couples and family communication issues, parenting, career counseling, substance related/addiction, sexual discord/disorders, OCD, career counseling, life coaching, trauma, grief, social skills, sports performance, sports psychology, dating strategy...
I make a habit of "checking in" often with my clients to confirm that the method we use in therapy is working towards the goals and healthy change of each individual, couple or family. I always consider that the client is the ultimate expert as to the direction of positive change. The therapeutic relationship is a partnership where full participation is required from therapist and client to maximize reaching set goals.
As a serious and competitive high-school, collegiate and Master's athlete, I am well versed in the stress around performance anxiety and how "life" issues can distract and lesson one's athletic performance. High level athletes often struggle to find the right balance and healthy connection in personal relationships, work, school and friendships. Athletics are an extremely healthy endeavor when balanced and mediated within the greater life system that we participate. I have been successful in helping both amateur and professional athletes improve performance alongside improving other life factors. I have also successfully helped professional athletes transitioning into retirement from their sport to find a new lens in which to enjoy and peacefully maintain new endeavors.

Outdoor/Wilderness Therapy
On occasion, and once a therapeutic relationship has been established, it may be time to leave the office for an outdoor setting in which we can use the power of nature and all of the metaphors that our beautiful planet can provide. Pairing the "mental" and "physical" challenges is often very helpful in creating relationship connection, individual focus and active meditation towards important goals.

I am an approved supervisor for post graduate interns in Oregon that are seeking licensure as Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC's) as well as Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT's). You can click on the "Supervision" tab to learn more.
